இலங்கை வடக்கு மாகாணம் மன்னார் மாவட்டம் முசலி வட்டாட்சியர் பிரிவு

முசலியின் சிலாபத்துறைக்கு வடக்கே அரிப்பு செல்லும் நெடுஞ்சாலையில் புதுக்குடியிருப்பு என்ற சிற்றூர். நிலதாரிப் பிரிவின் பெயர் சவேரியார்புரம்.

வீடற்ற மக்களுக்காக அரசு அமைத்த நகர் புதுக்குடியிருப்பு. குடுபம்பத்துக்கு 20 பேர்ச்சுக் காணி. அதில் வீடு. இந்துக் குடும்பங்கள் குடியேறின. கிறித்தவக் குடும்பங்கள் குடியேறின. யாவரும் மீனவர் குடும்பங்கள். மேற்கே மன்னார் வளைகுடாக் கடல்.

ஊர்ப் பொது மன்றம் அமைக்க, வழிபாட்டிடங்கள் அமைக்க ஓர் ஏக்கர் காணியை அரசு ஒதுக்கியது. எவருக்கும் அங்கு குடியேற, கட்டடம் அமைக்க உரிமத்தை அரசு வழங்கவில்லை.

அடாவடித்தனமாக, கிறித்துவக் கொள்கைகளுக்கு முரணாக, அரசு உரிமம் இன்றி, கத்தோலிக்கர் அந்தப் பொது இடத்தில் அன்னை வேளாங்கண்ணிக்குத் தேவாலயம் ஒன்றைக் கட்டினர்.

கடந்த சில வாரங்களுக்கு முன் அந்த ஊரில் விளையாட்டுத் திடல் அமைக்கப் பத்து இலட்சம் ரூபாயை அரசு ஒதுக்கியது. விளையாட்டுத் திடல் அமைப்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, கிறித்தவத் தேவாலயம் அமைந்த நிலத்தைச் சுற்றி மதில் அமைக்கக் கிறித்தவர் முயன்றனர்.

இந்துக்கள் ஒப்பவில்லை. விளையாட்டுத் திடலுக்கு ஒதுக்கிய நிதியில் தேவாலயச் சுற்று மதில் கட்டுவதா?  இந்துக்களுக்கான அருள்மிகு நாகபூசணி அம்மன் கோயில் அமைக்க உள்ள இடத்தையும் கிறித்தவ தேவாலயத்துக்கு அபகரிப்பதா? அரசு நிதியை அபகரிப்பதா?

இந்துக் குடும்பங்கள் தமக்குள்ளே நிதி சேர்த்தனர். கன்கிறீட் தூண்கள் வாங்கினர். முட்கம்பிச் சுருள்கள் வாங்கினர். இந்துக் கோயிலுக்கான நிலத்துக்கு வேலி அமைக்க முயன்றனர்.

கத்தோலிக்க மத குருவான டெசுமன் பாதிரியாரின் தூண்டுதலை அடுத்துக் கத்தோலிக்கக் குண்டர்கள் இந்துக்களைத் தாக்கினர். கத்தோலிக்க இளைஞர்களும் காடையர்களும் தூண்களை உடைத்தெறிந்தனர். உழவு இயந்திரத்தைச்சேதமாக்கினர். எண்ணிக்கைச் சிறுபான்மையினரான இந்துக்கள் அஞ்சினர், அலறினர், ஆற்றாது அழுத கண்ணீருடன் காவல் நிலையம் சென்றனர். முறையிட்டனர்.

முறையீட்ட ஏற்ற காவல் நிலையத்தார், சிக்கலான நிலப்பகுதிக்கு வந்தனர். இந்துக்களுக்குப் பாதி நிலம், கிறித்தவர்களுக்குப் பாதி நிலம் எனத் தீர்த்தனர்.

மீண்டும் தம் எல்லைக்கு வேலி அமைக்க முயன்றனர் அருள்மிகு நாகபூசணி அம்மன் கோயிலார். ஆனால் கத்தோலிக்கக் குண்டர்கள் விடவில்லை. தாக்க வந்தனர். இந்துக்கள் காவல் நிலையத்தில் தஞ்சம் கோரினர்.

பிரதேசச் செயலர் வசந்தகுமாரிடம் இந்துக்கள் முறையிட்டனர். அவரும் பாதி நிலம் இந்துக்களுக்கே எனத் தீர்த்தார். அங்குசென்ற பிரதேச செயலர் அல்லது வட்டாட்சியரைக் கத்தோலிக்கர் தாக்க முயன்றார்கள். அவரும் செய்வதறியாது பின்வாங்கினார்.

இன்று மன்னார் கத்தோலிக்க ஆயர் தலைமையிலான டெசுமன் பாதிரியார் பெரும் எண்ணிக்கையில் உள்ள கத்தோலிக்க மீனவரைத் தூண்டி விட்டு அங்கு குறைந்த எண்ணிக்கையில் வாழும் சைவ மீனவரைத் தாக்குமாறு கூறுகிறார்.

In one of the worst violent attacks on Hindus in Sri Lanka, around 200 Catholics led by the parish priest Rev Father Desmon attacked 50 Hindu families.

This happened in Sri Lanka Northern province Mannar district Musali division, Pudhukkudiyiruppu village located along the East coast road between Arippu and Silavthurai along the North Western sea board.

2 days ago a police complaint was made and the police advised both parties for restraint as usual.

 But the Catholics did not listen to the police. They were numerically stronger armed with wooden sticks led by no less a person then the Rev Father Desmon of the church  in the village.

Puthdu kudiyiruppu as the name implies is a newly colonized housing scheme for homeless fishermen in the division.

Nearly 50 Hindu families were relocated to this new colony. They are all fishermen.

Around 200 Catholics were also be located in this village who are also fisherman.

1 acre of land was set up in the new colony for construction of places of worship. 

The divisional secretary suggested to the Catholics and Hindus to construct their places of worship inside this one acre dividing it equally between themselves.

No written document of permit was given to either of the denominations. However the Catholics built a place of worship for Annai Velankanni inside the half an acre allocated to them.

Recently the Hindus went there to construct their place of worship, a temple for Arulmiku Nagapooshani Amman, 

The Catholics objected and started fencing the entire area for the church.

Hindus collected money among their families, bought concrete poles and wire mesh to fence the half an acre assigned to them

The poles we're unloaded into the half an acre Hindu plot.

Encouraged by the Catholic parish priest around 200 Catholics mostly men took wooden poles and started attacking the Hindus.

Some Hindus were injured. However Hindus did not retaliate but went to the nearest police station to complain

The police came and advised the Catholics to allow the Hindus to construct their temple in the assigned area.

The Catholics would not listen to the request. So the Hindus went to the divisional secretary Mr Vasant Kumar who told the Hindus that the plot belonged to them.

This morning the divisional secretary went to the site for inspection and was threatened by the Catholics and has to make a retreat.
