Activity report for later July and early August 2021
The last half of July and the first week of August were full of events.
1 Siva Senai team was at the Indian Consulate to bid goodbye to the departing Consul General Mr. Balachadran, who is now based in Suriname as Ambassador for Suriname and three other Caribbean island nations.
2. Mr. Surenthiran and I were at Madu and Naanaaddan in the Mannar district. The consequence of this visit is the rapid progress in Hinduisation of the two divisions.
744 households at Naanaaddaan and 540 households at Madu have fluttering Nandhi flags each with a book, a holy book as these households revere, of the 864 pages Mannar Sivabhhomi book.
The enthusiasm among the Naanaaddan Hindu leadership took them to the Divisional Secretary to work on the allocation of lands in 3 villages. Now it is up to the international Hindu community to work with these leaders in utilizing these lands. International Hindus should not fail the Hindus at Mannar.
3 We are seeking a ban on the American Ceylon Missions operations in Sri Lanka as they are inciting violence towards evangelization. A 24-page booklet in 3 languages of my memorandum was posted to the 225 lawmakers. This booklet was also sent to the 400 Siva Senai volunteers in all 25 districts of the island. The packet had another 8-page booklet on the covert evangelization agenda of lawmaker Mr. Sumanthiran and his wife Savithiri. On the pipeline is to post another 100 to the media and opinion-makers in Sri Lanka. 4 Vavuniya district Cheddikulam division continues to be the target for evangelists. Our volunteers wiped them out two years ago. However, the evangelists did not give up. Siva Kaavalar Mrs. Thamilini and Siva Kaavalar Mr. Yogeswaran called us from the Media Farm at Cheddikulam. We immediately sent relief packages to the lockdown-suffering homes (thanks to a Danish Sri Lankan Hindu Lady who willingly sends money for such relief work). Now we are replacing the worn-out 50 Nandhi flags hoisted in each household. Mr. Yogeswaran tells me that the shed meant to be a prayer hall for evangelization, was broken up and the pastor drove away.
4 Vavuniya district Cheddikulam division Kannan kulam Sivakaavalar sought our help in dismantling un unauthorized construction of a prayer hall for evangelization. Signatures from the villagers seeking demolition by the local council which was accepted to demolish the unauthorized structure. Siva Sinthayar Mathavan led the villagers. (Siva Kaavalar is a designation for the Siva Senai volunteer / alerter / coordinator at the Nilathaari division level; Siva Thondar for the coordinator at Divisional Secretary division level and, Siva Sinthaiyar for the coordinator at District level).
5. A Nandhi flag inscribed Siva Kaavalar in Tamil (40 cm long 30 cm high) printed in plastic (Rs. 685), fitted on a 1.75 cm diameter galvanized pole 12 feet in height (Rs. 1,600) with a supporting rod (Rs. 70) to hold the flag without folding has been designed. 50 flags were printed. Of which 30 were fitted (Rs. 150) to poles. The cost of one flag post is Rs 2505. Mr. Sreenthiran, Sivathondar for Jaffna District Uduvil Division with 31 Nilathari divisions arranged through his deputy a meeting of 15 Siva Kaavavlar at Arulmiku Aanjaneya temple at Maruthanamadam. I explained the role of Siva Kaavalar in each unit. (a) meeting the evangelistic challenge, (b) preventing encroachments through prayer halls and missionary centers and, (c) creating a Hindu vote bank. I told them that, internal disputes among Hindus themselves are not matters for Siva Kaavalars. On 31.8.21 a team will go to each house of the accredited Siva Kaavalar to install the 12 ft high flag-post in a concrete base with thulasi plants around and convocate the Siva Kaavalar.
20 such flag posts are now with Uduvil volunteers. 10 flag posts are being sent to Mr. Kanthasamy for use with 4 for Musali and initially 6 for Naanaaddan. As these are sample flag posts, eventually they will be fabricated at the divisions to reduce transport hazards and costs.
6. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse was planning a visit to the north on 30th July. So we planned a cow procession with 100 decorated animals along the main roads of Jaffna town on 29th seeking an early ban on bovine slaughter. For a few days, it was day and night running around for Sivathondar Sreenthiran and Mr. Sivabala thesikar. We were almost ready. We three went to the police for permission. We were told that the PM had canceled his program.
However, we are planning (to use the promises by dairy owners) to organize mini processions involving 25 to 30 animals in three local council areas.
7. Two months ago we as a 5 member delegation met the Buddhist priest of Naga Vihare Jaffna. We explained to him the machinations of the Catholics at Mullativu in propping up unwanted antagonism between Buddhists and Hindus.
I told him of my media statement of facts after the visit of the Ministerial team to Kurunthu Malai, off Mullaitivu, countering the false propaganda of local politicians, inspired by Catholics.
I told the priest of the nurturing of violence by Catholics in conducting a proxy conflict/war with Buddhists through innocent Hindu youth. Catholic-inspired Hindus are calling the stand of Siva Senai, traitorous. I told the priest, that Catholics are moving in that direction again. We asked for intervention at the highest level towards easing Buddhist Hindu tension at Kurunthu Malai.
The priest had been very sincere in talking to the higher-ups. The powerful All Ceylon Buddhist Congress was sending a delegation led by Jagath Sumathipala,
Immediate Past President to meet the Hindus, the priest told, led by me. The priest was planning to take me in his vehicle to Kurunthu Malai on 1st August. The program remains postponed as the Delta variant had closed the ACBC office in Colombo.
8 Northern Province is having a new Chief Secretary. Colombo government is said to have reviewed the 5 Tamil names sent by the Governor and appointed a Sinhala Buddhist Mr. M.K.Bandula Harischandra, very much junior to those 5.
Governor Mrs. Charles and former Chief Secretary Mr. Pathinathar, both Catholics (aggressive) favored Mrs. Rupavathy Ketheeswaran, a Christian. She also had the support of a local Minister. Mr. Kethesswaran is a known evangelist. Both were Hindus by birth.
My experience with her was that as District Secretary, Mullaitivu, she was attempting to regularise an encroachment by Mr. Sapthasangari, again a recent convert, of the Inthupuram Sivan Temple land.
Elated by the rejection by Colombo of Mrs. Rupavathy and in promoting goodwill with the new incumbent, our team went to greet Mr. M.K.Bandula Harischandra at his office and guided him for prayers with his family at Arulmiku Nallur Kandaswamy temple and Arulmiku Sivan temple, Chunnakam.
Entire Tamil politicians (terming the appointment of M.K.Bandula Harischandra as a mark of Sinhala Buddhist domination) held protest marches, demonstrations and issued media statements.
9 Jaffna District has 15 divisions. Vadamaradchy is one of them.
Pandemic restrictions were followed in all Hindu temples throughout the district. There were occasional deviations here and there. However, the medical administration was careful not to disturb the Hindu sentiments in14 of the 15 divisions. In most deviations, the devotees were guided out. Temples remained open for worship and daily rituals and special rituals.
For the 15th Vadamaradchy division, Dr. Santhan, is the Medical Officer of Health, MOH. He has atheistic tendencies. Mr. A. Jenson Ronald is the Public Health Inspector Point Perdo-2 (working range). He is an aggressive Christian according to his teacher and his colleagues.
One ashram is feeding all three meals for hundreds of sanniyasis taking refuge at Arulmiku Selvasannithi Murugan temple area. Mr. A. Jenson Ronald as the Public Health Inspector went to the Ashram and closed it a week ago. Rev Mohanathaas Swamigal refused to close it. He placed the onus on the administration to handle incomers. He is now delivering packed food. This ashram is located outside the range of Mr. A. Jenson Ronald.
At Pont Pedro Mr. A. Jenson Ronald went to a Sivan temple, sealed the front door, placed the trustee and the priest under house lockdown (they do not have any symptoms of any disease). This temple is also located outside his range.
At Uduppiddy Mr. A. Jenson Ronald has closed another temple, placed a few under house lockdown. This temple is also located outside his range.
Five of us visited the area yesterday 8th August. We have assured the local Hindus of our support. We explained to them the legal position. There is no legal backing for such action. I spoke to MP. Mr. Ankajan and discussed with the Divisional Secretary on a conference call. I have alerted Minister Hon. Douglas Devananda. We as a team are planning to meet Dr. Ketheeswaran, Director of Medical Services seeking his intervention by transferring Mr. A. Jenson Ronald.
10 Apart from this we are following up on unfinished issues of the previous period. I have to thank the sponsors and contributors who are softening our path. My age (80 years old), the pandemic, logistics like food, accommodation, transport, and the support of a willing volunteer, hold me back from meeting the money-laden, layer structured, planned, and organized Abrahamic onslaught.
